A good day FISHING...

Posted By: JJ

Everybody loves those days when the fish are ass deep and a monkey could get one bite after another. I sure do...But if you are a true fisherman you also revel in the days when it is scrappy fishing and poor conditions and rough as a cob and you still manage to show your guests a wonderful day on the water. Today was one of those days. I had Jamie Miller and his crew, Blake and Forrest out for a morning half day. These boys used to fish with me offshore in the past and they are good people from my neck of the woods in Va. The wind was howling and the ocean water had cooled off the sound areas all the way up to Manteo and beyond. We burned a lot of fuel, covered a lot of ground, fished countless spots and came up with a handful of trout and a drum and striper and bluefish bite or two here and there. We also waged war with the 30 lb. cownose ray legion, that seemed to be everywhere. This was a hoot on 8 lb. test and we fought most of them to the shore where we could at least get our grubs back from them. The point is we put in a big effort on a day where most people sought the shelter of John's ditch. We enjoyed each other's company and Forrest still went home with enough fish to fry up for his fiance. I had a blast FISHING with these boys...When they come back later in the summer, I bet it will be more like Catching.
