Ware River Folks

Posted By: JJ

Donnie and Brenda Smith joined me for an absolutely stress free beautiful day in the sound. We started really early in hopes of a topwater bite but the wind has us whipped out to start. We steamed her across the sound to a leeward shore and made a long drift with just a few bites. The wind gradually fell out all over and we hit a lot of spots, catching just a trout or two at each spot. We eventually made about an 8 mile steam down the road and drifted some different flats and sloughs. We caught a few more trout, one ol' nice one and a pretty puppy drum. Now I've known Donnie pretty much my whole life and realizing how much fun he was having just scrapping and casting away was really cool. You'd never have known that he's probably tagged as many citation specks as I've caught white marlin. Seriously, he has flat done it and I enjoyed being with a fella that genuinely appreciates the experience. He just kept grinning and casting and Brenda kept soaking up the sun and keeping me on my toes with her razor sharp banter...She's tough, Plus she rigged me up with some ham biscuits from Rudy's store. And if you don't know where that is then you just ain't never been to Ware Neck bubba! Awesome trip! Thanks again........
