Blog - "chime in on the latest action"!

Perfect Morning

Today I got to do one of the things I really love to do. I had grandfather, fathers and children out to share time together on the water making memories. Ben Nash brought his father in law Jim, brother in law Mike and 3 kids, David, Ozzie and Emma. These kids were awesome! We decided to leave a little later and to go bottom fishing to give them some hands on experience with the rods and to hopefully provide non-stop action to keep everyone's attention....To quote Hannibal Smith, "I love it when a plan comes together". We got set up and it was as fast paced as you wanted. Before long the kids were all casting their own rods and taking the fish off the hooks. Ozzie especially, accepted the role as the deckhand, trading his rod in for the towel and pliers. I remember the feeling well. He may be on the track for total ruination if that bug bites him too bad.... David, at maybe 6 years old, was pretty much self sufficient, casting and hooking them and reeling them in non stop. I like his attitude too. Tough little rascal. Of course, Emma held her own with the boys too. She is a total cutie with the grit to mix it up with the others. She caught her share and took big fish honors as well.
It was neat watching the dads and granddad interact with their kids. This is a dynamic that our society is sorely missing these days. I also saw the kid come back out in them as, when the kids took a break they couldn't stand it and got in on the action themselves. All in all, good stuff. The kids had so much fun that I don't think they ever noticed that there was no IPOD aboard and the only time I saw a phone was to take a pic or to track the maelstrom of a squall that was bearing down on us as we left.
Thanks guys for an absolutely pleasant morning in the sound!
